OXFORD BIOMEDICA APPOINTS DR ALEX LEWIS AS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Oxford, UK - 10 March 2008:Oxford BioMedica (LSE: OXB), a leading gene therapy company, announced today that Dr Alexander D Lewis will join the Board on 3 April 2008 as a Non-executive Director and member of the Remuneration and Audit Committees.
Dr Lewis is an experienced consultant to the pharmaceutical and biotech industry with a background of over 20 years in medical research and drug development. Until 1 January 2008, Dr Lewis was head of the Partnering and Due Diligence Practice at leading consultants Wood Mackenzie and was based in their Boston office. Dr Lewis’ assignments have involved supporting investment banks with their corporate finance activities, including selection of acquisition targets, due diligence, expert reports and listing particulars; as well as advising pharmaceutical and biotech clients with their licensing strategy for in and out licensing and asset identification, general corporate strategy in terms of research and development and also mergers and acquisitions; and also performing due diligence on companies, products and technologies. Dr Lewis has also been involved in the provision of the expert reports and technical advice for Initial Public Offerings (IPO’s) and fundraising activities of biotech companies based in the USA and Europe.
Professor Alan Kingsman, Chief Executive Officer of Oxford BioMedica, said: "We are delighted that Alex has agreed to join the board of Oxford BioMedica.
